RoNZ participated in the Norsewood Viking Festival
Waitangi Weekend 2024. Here is some of the action, which included archery, ax & spear throwing:
The Morning Parade of the Viking Community, many fully kitted out in Viking apparel. You can walk around the Viking Village featuring genuine Viking tents where the neo-Vikings cook over open campfires using cast iron pots.
A Viking Wedding, including Handfasting Ceremony, took place on the Saturday afternoon.
At RoNZ Trading Stall, two Shield Maidens were spotted hunting for Viking wooden bowls and plates, so they, their family & friends could "Eat Like A Viking".
RoNZ Artisan Woodworking & Curiosity Shoppe
Many wooden items, from the ultra practical cutting & serving boards, to hand-turned wine goblets, bowls, and platters were for sale. There must be a good dollop of Kiwi-blood in the neo-Vikings we met at the festival, as they often asked (when looking at one of the more whimsical items): What can you put in this? Ron replied (on more than one occasion): "Spaghetti, coloured pencils, an ostrich feather . . . or you could just hold it and look at it; they are very tactile."

RoNZ's Workshop is behind our home in Dannevirke. By appointment, you can see various works in progress, and discuss your ideas and projects with Ron. Please call several days ahead and let us know you would like to visit, so we can make sure the jug is on.
