Tung Oil is the preeminent oil for finishing wood. Once cured (polymorized) it is food safe and dry (not oily) to the touch. We recommend 2 coats on chairs and table bases, and 3 coats on table tops and kitchen bench tops. Also known as China Nut Oil, Tung has been cultivated and used as a finish for high quality woodworking for more than 500 years. It is grown in Northern India and China, the oil is extracted from the "nuts", it is light amber in colour.
