This bowl is made from Black Walnut planted in the Tararua district for landscaping and farm forestry. Black Walnut is a rich, dark timber long valued for fine furniture, cabinetry and decorative turning.
This piece has a wide, flat rim and a deep central well. The grain flows in warm chocolate and reddish-brown bands around the inside, with a little lighter sapwood showing on the outer edge. A handsome serving bowl.
Finish: Hand finished with Tung oil and Wax.
