Description:
Holly wood (not to be confused with Hollywood) produces bright red berries on sharp, prickly leaves, and the branches are often made into Christmas wreaths. The timber is heavy and dense, and it turns and finishes well. It is perhaps most famously known as the wood used for billy clubs for British bobbies.
This platter comes from a Holly tree in our front lawn in Dannevirke, planted about 90 years ago. It is pale gold, with a dark natural streak running across the interior. A shallow, useful piece for the table.
Finish: Hand finished with Tung oil and Wax.
