Description:
Japanese Cedar, known as Cryptomeria japonica, is a large evergreen tree of the cypress family, native to Japan, where it is called Sugi. It is grown as an ornamental and for its valuable aromatic soft wood, and it is very light in weight.

This tree was one of many that formed a windbreak sheltering an orchard near Havelock North. The timber is very straight and can be managed knot-free, as seen in this platter. A large, practical piece for everyday use.

Finish: Hand finished with Tung oil and Wax.
