Description:
This is a rough-sawn NZ Native Matai slab from the Tararua district, milled before 2005 and kept dry since then, so it is ready to start a project.
It is an irregular shape, not a rectangle. The lower section is 640 mm high and 380 mm wide. Above that the slab narrows to a peak 1180 mm high and 160 mm wide.
Matai is a New Zealand native timber, often a warm reddish-brown, and was widely used for flooring in New Zealand homes. This piece would suit a small, shaped top, shelf or other interior project once flattened and finished.
Finish: Sold rough-sawn. Can be flattened, sanded and finished in Tung oil and wax if required.
