This bowl is made from NZ Native Black Beech from a neighbouring property in Dannevirke. It is a spalted piece. Spalting happens when fungi begin the natural breakdown of the timber and leave dark lines and colour changes in the grain. Caught at the right stage, that marking can be kept and finished, giving the bowl its distinctive patterning. A useful bowl with plenty of visual interest.
Finish: Hand finished with Tung oil and Wax.
