Description:
This bowl is made from NZ Native Black Beech from a neighbouring property in Dannevirke. The spalting is only just beginning. Spalting happens when fungi begin the natural breakdown of the timber and leave dark lines and colour changes in the grain. Caught early, that marking can be kept and finished.
One half of the bowl still shows the timber’s beautiful natural colouring, while the other half is starting to take on the darker spalting pattern. There is bark on the outside edge on both sides. A two-toned bowl with a lot of character.
Finish: Hand finished with Tung oil and Wax.
