Description:
This platter is made from NZ Native Red Beech, a beautiful reddish timber from a tree in our front yard. The tree had to be felled after a storm damaged a high branch and breakdown got into the main trunk, making it a hazard to people using the nearby footpath.
The grain is the whole story: swirling figure through the centre, with warm honey, amber and darker reddish-brown running across the dish. A shallow, wide platter that shows the timber at its best.
Finish: Hand finished with Tung oil and Wax.
