Description:
This bowl is made from farmed Totara — trees that germinate after the original bush is cleared, because sheep and cattle refuse to eat the prickly young seedlings. The tree was about 80 years old when it was felled to make way for an addition to a garage and workshop on a lifestyle block near Kumaroa.
It is a twinned pair with NZ Native Totara Bowl – 1958. The two pieces were cut side by side from the same section of trunk, so they share the same grain and colour. A large, practical bowl for everyday use. An ideal fruit bowl.
Finish: Hand finished with Tung oil and Wax.
