This platter is made from farmed Totara — trees that germinate after the original bush is cleared, because sheep and cattle refuse to eat the prickly young seedlings. The tree was about 80 years old when it was felled to make way for an addition to a garage and workshop on a lifestyle block near Kumaroa. Totara is a durable New Zealand native timber with a warm colour and a fine, even grain. A practical serving platter for the table.
Finish: Hand-finished with 100% food-safe Tung oil.
