This platter is made from “farm totara” — trees that germinate after the original bush is cleared, because sheep and cattle refuse to eat the prickly young seedlings. The tree was about 80 years old when it was felled to make way for an addition to a garage and workshop on a lifestyle block near Kumaroa. The result is a large, practical platter with the distinctive character of New Zealand totara.
Finish: Hand finished with Tung oil and Wax.
