This Platter is made from farmed Totara — trees that germinate after the original bush is cleared, because sheep and cattle refuse to eat the prickly young seedlings. The tree was about 80 years old when it was felled to make way for an addition to a garage and workshop on a lifestyle block near Kumaroa.
Blue resin has been used in the timber, and there is a bark inclusion on a small part of the edge. A large, practical platter for everyday use. Ideal as a fruit platter.
Finish: Hand finished with Tung oil and Wax.
