This platter is made from Oak. The timber had a bolt in it, and the iron reacted with the tannin in the wood, turning it black. A small part of that dark staining is still visible in the platter. It does not affect food safety. A compact serving piece with a useful story in the grain.
Finish: Hand-finished with 100% food-safe Tung oil.
