Description:
A calabash bowl is traditionally a container made from the dried shell of the bottle gourd (Lagenaria siceraria). These bowls have been used for centuries in various cultures, particularly in Africa, for serving food and holding liquids. This wooden version follows the same rounded, bottom-heavy calabash shape.

The bowl is turned from Red Oak that came from a residential section in Havelock North. Red Oak has a warm reddish-pink colour that is more flamboyant than White Oak. It sits on a Rimu base for extra stability, making it a practical everyday bowl.
