This oak sideboard spent 30 years stored in a sheep shed with a leaky roof. Over that time it became covered in bird droppings, while the feet sat in damp sheep manure and gradually rotted away — in places losing around 45 mm of timber. Constant water dripping also eroded and textured the top surface, and the original hardware was damaged. Despite the heavy soiling and decay at the base, the main carcass remained largely intact and worth saving.
